SECRETS OF DUBAI: TREASURED PEARLS OF WISDOM

Holidaying in Dubai was such a great experience. I am an adventurer at heart with an avid interest in exploring the world and its cultures.

Storytelling is a big thing for me as it preserves history for generations to utilize. Every traveler visiting a new place will view it from within, for many it’s the inner soul that accepts or rejects a new place. The end will nearly always result in narrations of happiness, mixed feelings or of gloom. This was a happy ending.

As my trip was reflective and I was full of gratitude for the five years I have been in business and the chance to take a much needed break.

My body was ready for new experiences, the coach in me awakened with a heightened sense of discovery. My mind programmed to assess the reality and ask questions. Learning and growing from every experience is important, this trip was no exception.

Few decades ago, this country was plain old sand. A DESERT. The people were mainly nomadic with a later interest in fishing, sea trade and pearling.

Today’s DUBAI is the cosmopolitan travelers delight, it boasts of extraordinary architecture, matchless hotels with world-class entertainment and sporting events. This attracts tourists daily from all around the world.

Some clever person would say it’s the OIL MONEY. Agreed oil was discovered in 1966, though evident that this was used as the capital for major investments. It is also no secret that oil depletes. As a clever nation, they diversified as in the 1980’s into building a state of the art tourist destination and business hub that, caters to varying classes of people, wealth and style.

Dubai can be likened to that oyster that was irritated by sand to yield pearls. We can all move out of our comfort zones to create the very same in beauty and value.

BE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH COMFORT

A wise person once joked that people from Africa are mainly underachievers, because God knows that we get lazy once we attain a level of affluence. We become laid back and greedy. The truth is we become comfortable. Content with tapping an inch of potential. Happy that we can at least provide for our families daily, we do not desire anything more. We do not think further into creating solutions that will show other families how they can feed themselves.

DON’T THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX, THINK AS IF THERE IS NO BOX.

This should be the mantra of our age, forming new ideas and sustaining the old with new approaches to risk management. When Dubai decided to create the tallest building in the world, over 828 meters with the highest number of stories and occupied floors. There was no box to define their move, it was a defining moment. They made history. All the while there were naysayers, experts who said it was near impossible. They chose to follow through. As I stood in the largest observation deck in the world, I pondered on how one country’s desire brought together an outstanding number of thinkers. This dream was made manifest by visionaries.

GET OTHERS TO DO THE WORK FOR YOU, BUT ALWAYS TAKE THE CREDIT- 7th Law of Power- Robert Greene

The Emiratis are masters of this art, perhaps that is why they have developed masterpieces that leave the rest of the world in awe.Dubai has created employment for both skilled and unskilled workers satisfying the needs of both developing and developed countries. The world is increasingly demanding with a population that is young and hungry for innovation. Individuals and corporations that create models providing these solutions, will move higher economically.
