THE PSYCHOLOGY OF WINNING WITH THE RIGHT EDUCATION

“The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you.” – B.B. King

A few weeks ago, I was privileged to share on the Psychology of winning through education at a conference held in Freetown. It was organised by She Arose Transformational Coaching in partnership with The anti- glossophobia academy. As an edupreneur, I never pass on a great opportunity to share knowledge, the audience mainly young people were positively affected by my talk and so I thought, let me share the highlights with my online community.

Most of us were raised to believe that education is acquired in school or in formal settings, this then results as one of the greatest obstacles to growth  and development. As we end up being closed- thinking , biased and prejudiced to experiences, people and opportunities that have the tendency to change the trajectory of our lives. How can we define education? Well according to Wikipedia it is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. While psychology is the study of mind and behavior. It encompasses the biological influences, social pressures, and environmental factors that affect how people think, act, and feel.

Education is a basic human right for all and is important for everyone to make the most of their lives. In other words no one is entitled to being educated, it is not a choice reserved for the elite few. Education is available to all, if we have the right attitudes, the desire to take each day as a collection of  teachable moments.

WHAT MYTHS DO WE HAVE AROUND EDUCATION?

  • An educated person is one with titles!

  • Education is easy to acquire.

  • Going to school means ones is educated.

  • Learning is restricted to a certain time in one’s life.

Thanks so much. I am blessed by this. I am going to sit with my daughter and read it for her…. because I wont get her to read this because she thinks it’s very long. She is very intelligent academically but she thinks these are adult stuff because she is 12years but I like passing these knowledge to her. She is in Form 3 at Lebanese school. I really want to enrol her on a mentorship programme, how can I go about that?
