Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer among women, impacting 2.1 million women each year, and also causes the greatest number of cancer-related deaths among women. In 2018, it is estimated that 627,000 women died from breast cancer – that is approximately 15% of all cancer deaths among women.

A Cross- Section of The Management and Staff of The Place Resort

Sierra Leone premier beach resort, The Place Resort at Tokeh supported breast cancer awareness this month organised by Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation on October 26, 2019.

The event embraced several activities including networking, a marathon  competition and keynote addresses that highlighted the importance of early screening and detection to prevent future complications among women with breast cancer.

The management and staff of the Place Resort are ‘thinking pink’  because they know the importance of continued awareness and education for breast cancer care in Sierra Leone. This was the driving force behind their participation in this year’s marathon, organised by Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation. The organiser’s aim is to create a local awareness of the disease , hoping that it changes the perception on breast cancer and subsequently reduce the occurrence of this deadly disease.

The management of The Place Resort was happy to support this worthy cause because it falls in line with their corporate social responsibility strategy: that strives to support different initiatives, benefiting society. They are committed to having a positive impact in the community and country in which they live and work. They own the fact that their corporate social responsibility is an essential pillar of their business.

The Place Resort has 50 private chalets, a large convention centre among other facilities aimed at enhancing experience for those seeking relaxation, destination events, residential conferences and corporate team building activities.
