60 SECONDS WITH CAMAREH SARAH KAMARA

A few weeks ago, Sierra Leoneans were held together by a force stronger than tribe and political lines. For the first time ever, Sierra Leone had its own taste of reality television in the BIG SISTER SIERRA LEONE show, it was produced by Zainab Sheriff a renowned entertainer (ZedZee Multimedia).

The theme was centered on Women’s Empowerment, a subject with an array of opinions.

One thing could be said of the show , it did not only attract international attention and media popularity, but it made a human connection. People could relate with the housemates, the vibe was dynamic; people showed up in numbers to rally support for their housemates. Fan zones appeared from nowhere- crazy in love.

One of Sierra Leone’s biggest issues; EDUCATION was unraveled with mixed feelings from different quarters.

A few weeks into the show, each housemate was known for their core message, Camareh Sarah Kamara, shone bright in her love for culture, it’s no surprise she clinched the 1st runner up position.

We shared a few moments with her to see the person behind the lens and ‘shaku shaku’ with her.

ARIANA DIARIES -If you were granted three wishes only, what would you wish for?

Camareh Sarah Kamara: First wish would be the ability to read minds, second wish is to have the ability to see into the future, third wish would be to be rich in knowledge.

ARIANA DIARIES -You are a passionate young African woman indulging in culture. How would you use your platform to encourage young people to do the same?

Camareh Sarah Kamara– I have been using my platform as a photographer to encourage young people to discover themselves. To embrace the beauty of where they are from . After the Big Sister Sierra Leone, I have been blessed with a bigger platform. I will continue showcasing the beauty of culture.

ARIANA DIARIES -What things have you learned about life and the human condition from being in the Big Sister House?

Camareh Sarah Kamara -I have learnt that life can be very unpredictable. One minute you’re the underdog and the next minute you are the hero. As a result, we should learn to be grateful and not take anyone or anything for granted.

ARIANA DIARIES -What things in your life would you give up in an instant, if it got you to an even better place , than you are now?

Camareh Sarah Kamara – To be honest, absolutely nothing. Everything that I have now or have been through has contributed to the person that I am and if I am going to a better place, I am taking all of it with me.

ARIANA DIARIES -If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?

Camareh Sarah Kamara– I think the best person to play me would be me, but I guess Halle Berry would prove me wrong.

ARIANA DIARIES -What belief do you have that most people disagree with?

Camareh Sarah Kamara – That marriage should not be the ultimate goal for a woman.

ARIANA DIARIES -Name three African women who inspire you, what lessons have you learnt from their stories?

Camareh Sarah Kamara -My mother, she taught me how to fight for what I believe in and to dream big no matter the circumstance.

My elder sister (Yelka); She taught me how to be selfless and compassionate .

Lastly, Madam Ella Koblo Gulama, reading about her life has taught me how to be a strong woman in a society were being a strong woman is frowned upon.
